Trion Worlds has announced recently that they will be introducing a new game mechanic, virtual marriages, to their popular MMO RIFT. The new mechanic is set to go live as a part of the RIFT 1.7 Carnival of the Ascended game update, along with quite a few more updates and additions.
To celebrate the inclusion of Marriages in RIFT, Trion Worlds is going to make an attempt at grabbing the world record in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most in-game marriages in a 24 hour period of time. The date to remember is February 14th - Valentine's Day - which is when these marriages will be going down.
RIFT is introducing official Ascended Weddings, and to celebrate, we’re going for a world record: Most In-Game Marriages in a 24-Hour Period.
Join us and get married on Valentine’s Day to take your place in history!
Any players who get married between 9am PST on Feb. 14 and 9am PST on Feb. 15 will be logged by the Guinness Book of World Records—note that you must still be married by the end of the event to be counted. Soon after, we’ll find out if we’ve got a place in their 2013 edition!
Everyone who participates (and only those who do!) will receive the exclusive in-game title “Tier of Knots” to commemorate your contribution!
Players who wish to get married have simply to visit a Marriage Coordinator in Meridian or Sanctum to purchase a Marriage Contract. Then use the item on your betrothed and that's it, you're married! The marriage coordinator also has information on wedding instances and how you can invite up to 200 guests to be a part of your special in-game day.
