There have been a lot of SimCity games from EA and Maxis over the years, with each iteration pleasing and bringing out the god complex in players worldwide. The newest addition to the series looks to take it to the next level with an unprecedented depth of simulation!
Play up to 16 cities at once and track statistics across the entire region, and experience levels of simulation all the way down to the individual. This combined with specializations and multiplayer options adds a side to SimCity we've never seen before:
Simulation
The new Glassbox game engine ensures that every bit of your city is simulated, down to the water in the pipes, the realistic traffic patterns, and the Sims themselves. Everything has a purpose and its own behavior, and your decisions will play out on both a macro and micro level -- affecting both the city and the Sims living in it.
Additionally, everything is customizable. Upgrade buildings with modules designed to extend the functionality of your city, such as extra patient rooms and more ambulance bays for health clinics, more garage space and a dispatch tower for fire stations, and more options for every type of building.
Specializations
Cities can be truly unique with the opportunity to select a specialization, each with a range of benefits and drawbacks.
Mayors seeking intelligent Sims can build a college town full of libraries, community colleges and universities. Specialize in Big Business such as Casinos, Electronics, Coal, Trade, and more to increase the wealth of your city. Each specialization has major benefits but consequences as well. Educated Sims unlock technologies that will benefit your region, but large universities are expensive to maintain. Casinos will bring tourism and raise Simoleons but also attract unwanted crime.
Will you go for a city that never sleeps, an industrial giant, or an innovative wonderland? The choice you make will influence the look, feel, and personality of your city as the inhabitants adapt and change to fit your new enterprise.
Multi-Player
The first game in the series to provide live service, you'll be able to play with your friends for the first time in SimCity, plus get real-time updates with new challenges, features, and content. Collaborate or compete with friends to build great works and earn achievements. You could be a good neighbor and help out those near you in times of crisis, or you could totally smoke them out with pollution and chaos. The choice is yours!
The Global Market is an advanced new feature that simulates true supply and demand prices based on the decisions of players around the world. Cities specializing in big business can buy and sell raw materials and manufactured goods. Reinforce your city's finite resources by learning the ins and outs of the market, and reap the benefits!
