That's right! At the Future of PlayStation event in New York tonight, Sony officially announced the inevitable PlayStation 4. To arrive for the 2013 holiday season, this new console from the entertainment giant will be host to a range of new features. Here's what we know so far:
- Hardware includes the X86 CPU and 8GB of GDDR5 memory, with a local hard drive
- Supports suspending and reloading play sessions
- Players will have social networking-style profiles showing trophies, pics, activity, friends, and more
- Downloading and uploading will be done on a secondary chip to allow for uninterrupted play AND games can be played as they're being downloaded
- Gameplay videos and screenshots can be uploaded via a Share button on the controller, and you can spectate your friends during their gaming sessions
- Diablo III will be coming to BOTH the PS3 and PS4, announced Chris Metzen
- PS4 games will be playable on the Vita with the 'remote play' feature
- Games confirmed on the PS4 include: Deep Down, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Driveclub, Infamous: Second Son, Knack, The Witness, a new Final Fantasy, Destiny, and Watch Dogs
Pricing hasn't been confirmed yet, but speculation is afoot on prices anywhere from $425 and up. Stay tuned right here, and we'll fill you in when we know more!
