Another team profile (interview) have been published on the official Star Wars Galaxies website. Usually developers are the one that get most of the glory in interviews such as these. This time it's different. Smith "Elias" Getterman works at SOE as a Community Relations Representative.
What is your real name? Smith "Elias" Getterman.
What is your official title/position? Community Relations Representative.
How long have you been working on Star Wars Galaxies? I've been working on SWG only for a couple of months, but I played it when it first released… So I went from player to employee!
What profession do you like to play in Star Wars Galaxies? Right now I'm concentrating on my bounty hunter, but I also have a smuggler and entertainer that I take out of the garage from time to time.
What do you enjoy most about your job on SWG, and why? My favorite part so far has been getting to chat with our European and British players. I love to travel and I'm a bit of an Anglophile (huge Ricky Gervais fan, huge Gordon Ramsay fan, huge anything English fan) so I enjoy being able to connect with people who have shared interests. I also enjoy letting everyone know Chelsea FC is the greatest sports club in the world.
Who is your favorite Star Wars character and why? This would have to be Darth Maul. He's just an awesome looking character and I will never forget when I first saw him with his double-bladed lightsaber.
Which game inspired you to get into the game industry? That's a loaded question. I don't know if there was any one game that inspired me to join the industry, rather than a pantheon of games and other sources that inspired me to get into games.
What's your favorite video game of all time and why? Ah, an impossible question. The FIFA series is my favorite series of all time. I love the Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer (level 49). I love Dead Rising. But if forced to pick it would be a toss up between FIFA and Civilization 4. When it came to Civ 4, I always needed just one more turn.
Outside of work, what do you like to do? My wife and I love to run. We also love taking our dogs to the lake and playing with them. I ride both mountain and road bikes. I love movies and comics. And my wife and I both LOVE Walt Disney World. So basically, I love my family!
