Tabula Rasa has been on the short end of the stick in recent history. The Korea Times has claimed that the title is a financial disaster and that NCSoft will be pulling support for the title at some point in the near future.
The Korea Times, a newspaper well known to NCSoft for creating erroneous speculation about the company, claims that around $100 million was spent on Tabula Rasa, with only a $5 million return in the first year and only $15 million projected return for 2008. Despite how horrifying this looks, most industry watchers believe the $100 million figure given by the Korean newspaper to be grossly inaccurate.
NCSoft promptly moved to quell the fears that support for Tabula Rasa would be pulled.
Please take any Korea Times articles about NCsoft with a grain of salt. Unfortunately, their writer has been responsible for several inflammatory articles containing sloppy reporting and erroneous content in the past year. They are by no means an 'official' source of information.
Despite this reassurance, Massively are claiming that some downsizing of the Austin Studio of NCSoft will most probably occur but NCSoft are obviously planning to continue investment in Tabula Rasa, with a Japanese release slated for later this year.
