Terraria 1.1 Details, Upcoming Christmas Content, and Boxed Collector's Edition Confirmed

Terraria creator Andrew "Redigit" Spinks has posted a large development blog on Terraria Online, detailing 1.1 changes to come and making a some very exciting announcements.  The full post can be found on the TO forums, but here's a rundown:

  • 39 new monsters including 4 new bosses
  • 3 new NPCs
  • 222 new items
    • 4 sets of armor
    • 21 accessories
  • New hard mode with a special way to unlock, followed by several new challenges and toucher enemies
  • Changes to world generation
  • New lighting system
  • Multitudes of changes to every aspect of the game

Redigit has released some screenshots as well of features in 1.1, with descriptions:

There is now a NPC housing interface. It's pretty simple, but allows full control over where your NPCs live, and it will even tell you if their living area is missing some of the requirements.

One of the most requested features has found it's way into the game: Pumps!  After we put this in, the first thing we did on the beta server was pump lava from hell into the overworld. Good times! (Those archers in the screenshot are jerks..)

Weapons and accessories now have random conditions that improve their attributes.  This can work both ways, however. Don't worry too much, as one of the new NPCs will allow you to reforge an item to change it's condition. (for a price).   Unreal Megashark. 'Nuff said.

We can expect a trailer shortly before the announced December 1st release - this will likely be the last teaser before that time, according to Redigit.  Coming after this update around the 15th will be a Christmas update with some festive content to put everyone in the spirit of the season, and stay tuned for more information on a boxed collector's edition copy of Terraria!  This newly announced set will include some fun goodies and even a special in-game item.

Find out everything there is to know about the game at the Official Terraria Wiki, including a list of confirmed future additions to the game.

Terraria developers often post small teasers and discussions on the Terraria Online forums under the names Redigit and Tiy, so for the most current updates from them be sure to follow their activity there!  You can also find guides, maps, server listings and everything you need to make your Terraria experience complete.
