Beta Signups Open for The Elder Scrolls Online

What could possibly be better than Bethesda continuing their legendary Elder Scrolls series into a modern-day MMO? Beta access, of course!  Indeed, commencement of beta signups for the upcoming TESO has been announced, allowing players to dive right into the action in an early build of the game.

If you haven't been following development, The Elder Scrolls Online is a much more social continuation of the beloved and richly fabricated universe which holds the continent of Tamriel and all the difficulties that arise in it. Check out the newly released official Alliance cinematic by clicking the image below.

The game will be set a millenium prior to the events of Skyrim, with the Daedric Prince Molag Bal appearing as the main antagonist as he attempts to conquer all of Tamriel. Players will be able to explore most of the continent, and join one of three factions warring over the throne of the Emperor of Tamriel:

  • The Aldmeri Dominion, composed of Altmer, Bosmer and Khajiit (represented by a bird of prey)
  • The Daggerfall Covenant, composed of Bretons, Redguards and Orcs (represented by a lion)
  • The Ebonheart Pact, composed of Dunmer, Nords and Argonians (represented by a dragon).

Heading the project is Matt Frior, who has been working in online game development for two decades.

“We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted,” said Matt Firor, game director of The Elder Scrolls Online. “It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.”

Head to the official TESO site to sign up for the beta, and be sure to check out our TESO Wiki for all known information on the races and places of Tamriel!

I always try something new no matter what, but I keep coming back (Or should i say, I always play) WoW as I love the games.

Played WoW since day 1. Tried Swtor-meh. Rift is by far IMO the gold standard atm in MMO's in terms of new content that is fiercely supported by a great company (Trion). I liked Skyrim and will try the beta but Bethesda has a lot to prove if they hope to reach Trion's level.

What I find in the new games is that they tend to always lean towards players having to use real money to purchase upgrades and or mounts.  I would far rather pay one set monthly fee to play as I do with WoW and not constantly being bombarded with new cost for game content.  WoW is the gold standard for me in all areas, except they need to go back to the develompment/drawing board and upgrate the graphics so that it is less cartoonish and more realistic.  Now that being said, I respect Blizzard's decision to keep the current graphics lvl as they are because not many of us can afford to purchase a high-end gaming computer able to handle the graphics of some of the newer MMORPG.  Thanks Blizz for thinking of your customers in that respect.

def mad hyped for this game.  think alot of people have been waiting for a elders scroll mmo.  Thats been the one thing for me growing up. like elders scroll have always been cool rpgs. but why not make it a mmo?  Def sweet seeing their taken the step towards it. cant wait to see more content.

as for wow. got tired of raid locks.  that was a big killer in the game for me after years of playing.  Like if im paying 15 bucks a month, i want to go in that damn instance as many times as i want. when ever i want, with who ever i want.  Hope their arent anything like raid locks in teso.
