This past weekend, during the Video Game Awards on Spike TV, Naught Dog unveiled a chilling and eerie trailer for their upcoming game, The Last of Us.
Not much is known about the famed Uncharted series developer's next project, but the trailer is already getting us excited to see more. Naughty Dog has said that The Last of Us is a "genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements" that tells the story of a plague that is destroying all of mankind.
Naughty Dog goes on to describe how the natural human instince of survival has begun to kick in, "forcing remaining survivors to kill for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States."
The trailer, embedded above, looks incredibly beautiful, even taking into account the high standards we've come to expect from Naughty Dog having played Uncharted for the last four years. What is more impressive is that the trailer above is taken directly from the game itself, albeit captured from angles that players won't normally be playing in. This is not a CGI trailer created by a subcontracted studio somewhere; this is true to life gameplay captured on a PlayStation 3 playing The Last of Us.
