Runic Games has announced that their popular dungeon crawling RPG, Torchlight, has gone Platinum. This means that Torchlight has officially logged over 1 million units sold! These numbers include the original PC launch as well as the subsequent releases on Mac and Xbox 360.
Earlier this month, the game went on sale on Steam as a part of the digital distributor's Summer Camp sale. Following that Steam sale came an important, Deal of the Week special on Xbox Live Arcade. All told, this extra bit of promotion served to send the game past the coveted 1 million sales mark.
Runic Games is undoubtedly thrilled by the news, saying that, "It isn’t every day you sell a million games. We’re grateful to be here.” Just the same, however, Runic Games' president Travis Baldree has reaffirmed the studios' passion to continue making the in-development Torchlight II as great an experience for the player as they possibly can.
Torchlight is out on Xbox 360, PC and Mac right now and Torchlight II is currently in development for a 2011 release.
