Online gaming is an interesting phenomenon. Games come and go, often times releases are too numerous to count. They sometimes launch and die within the same calendar year. Then there are those few, the games that have something unique about them. Whether it's a gameplay mechanic, a community-driven experience, or something else -- they're the ones with staying power.
Ultima Online is one of those games, now in its 14th year of servicing the online gaming community. The Game Developers Choice Online Awards recognized Ultima Online yesterday as its first ever entrant into the GDC Online Awards Hall of Fame.
To go along with this, BioWare Mythic, the current team in charge of development for Ultima Online, has released a video depicting the 14 years of success for the Ultima Online franchise featuring subscriber interviews and gameplay.
