Warhammer Beta reopens

The team at Mythic have announced that they are almost ready to reopen beta for Warhammer Online.

This next phase of the beta will be what they are dubbing a, "Dark Elf sneak peak," and will focus mainly around RvR (Realm V Realm) combat.

We’re almost ready to re-open the WAR Beta, and I know that our Beta Community has been gnashing their teeth in anticipation. Guess what? They should be giddy with excitement because we’ll have an amazing amount of new features and enhancements in the game for them to test, as well as brand new Elf content for them to experience.

Mythic also went onto reveal a little tidbit about Siege Warfare in Warhammer Online, comparing it to Keep Battles in Dark Age of Camelot, saying there will be differences but that anyone who has experienced Keep Battles will understand what Mythic are going for with siege weapons.

While we aren’t ready to publicly discuss Keeps and their siege mechanics in great detail at this time, anyone that has taken part in a Keep battle in Dark Age of Camelot® will have an idea of what we have in store for WAR (though it should be noted that this new Keeps system will differ from the one found in DAoC). The addition of Keeps will bring focus and meaning to Open Field RvR and beta participants should be able to experience this new system in its early stages by the end of the year.

Can't wait to get back into Warhammer Online. Let's hope that they have made it a lot better and they might get the game released earlier. Not likely tho, oh well, will just dwell around at http://war-universe.com/ in the meantime then.

The whole reason they went back into beta is because unlike other MMO's I have beta tested, they actually listen to what the community wants and fixes it. I've played it, and it doesn't look like WoW, it looks like Warhammer, its source material. If anything WoW looks like it seeing as how the inspiration for Warcraft and Starcraft came from Warhammer and Warhammer 40k. Also, to say this plays like WoW is to say this plays like an MMO. I'm sorry, WoW didn't revolutionize MMO's, it just brought in a more well-known source material. If anything, WoW just polished the standards for MMO's that was set by EQ and Ultima. Of course combat is going to seem familiar, it will in most online games, but they are really fleshing out the PVP so it won't be the same boring honor farm for better gear that helps you *gasp* farm for more honor. This is looking like it will actually require skill, something rarely seen in PVP nowadays. Say what you will, but from a first-hand experience, I am very excited about this game.

well... one wonders if they'll ever make it out of beta? i've never played the beta but a friend of mine has and he said... it's basically wow (like most of fantasy themed mmo's seem to be these days). it even looks like wow. the only thing that could be interesting is mature content and harsh black humor. but war is basically just lots of blah blah blah. sounds familiar? yeah, most games these days are. buggy copies of successful games.

    boring...boring...boring...
