Very early this morning, to coincide with the launch of Wrath of the Lich King, we updated WOWDB with a number of new features and support for all of the content introduced in the expansion. Here's a quick list of what you can find, with an explanation of the new features following.
- Support for all Wrath of the Lich King content; items, zones, spells, recipes, achievements, etc.
- Character Profiles
- Glyph Calculator
- Find an Upgrade
Character Profiles are a feature we've wanted to add to WOWDB for quite a while, and we feel that the launch of Wrath of the Lich King is a great time to do so. To take a look at our profiles, here's an example profile: my Death Knight. And a quick recap of the features of character profiles:
- Equipment display, including an "Equipment Score" using a sophisticated algorithm for equipment weighting, based on your character class, equipment, level, and talent spec. Through this score, you'll be able to compare equal-level characters easily to see who is the best equipped. Check it out!
- Recipes: On character profiles you'll be able to see all of the recipes your character has for each profession.
- Talents: You'll also be able to quickly see the talent build of a character via the talents tab.
- Guild Roster: See all of the members of your guild who use WOWDB!
- Item History: Check out up to the 10 most recent blue or better items you've obtained.
To add your character to WOWDB, simply download the Curse Client, log in to World of Warcraft, and the next time you log out your data will be submitted! It should be near instant that your character appears on WOWDB, and any updates for your character should also appear instantly!
The Glyph Calculator will allow you to play around with glyph setups without having to commit to them in-game. Its functionality is very similar to the glyph window in World of Warcraft, so its usage will be very familiar. You can also modify the level of the window, so that if you'd like to set up glyphs for your level 43 hunter, you can; simply change the level to 30 and it will remove slots unlocked at later levels.
To the right of the window you'll find a summary of all the glyphs you've inserted, and what they provide. You'll also be able to link each specific glyph setup to your friends to share; perhaps someone you know has asked about the best choices for a Feral Druid? Now you can set it up with the Glyph Calculator and share it with them as a guide!

Find an Upgrade
To go along with our new WOWDB Character Profiles, we have a Find an Upgrade feature. You can access this feature via the Characters page under "My Account".
You'll find a list of all of your characters on WOWDB, along with a button to the left of each. Click this button to go into our "Profile Editor" to access the feature.
This will bring up another version of your profile; clicking an item in your profile will then bring up all of the available upgrades to you that have a higher Equipment Score than what you're currently wearing. You can even specify certain maximum levels you desire for equipment, and even its source. If you only want to find level 63 pants that are crafted, you can do so with this tool. Clicking an item in this list will instantly "equip" it on your profile, allowing you to see how it affects your character. You can also preview it on your character without equipping it, by clicking the magnifying glass.
Want to find the highest scored gems for your specific talent spec? No problem; click over to the gems tab and then navigate to the item you'd like to find gems for. Click that item and under the gems section you will find a list, sorted highest to lowest by score, of all gems available to your character.
