There are a few interesting posts on the official forums today; World of Warcraft is being localized in Russia in 2008, a third profession for characters is fairly unlikely for Wrath of the Lich King, and players can expect TBC gear degredation to be similar in Wrath of the Lich King as Azeroth's was when Burning Crusade came out, meaning you'll have to replace your epics fairly soon after reaching level 80, if not before in some cases.
Additionally, there's a lot more information on FingerPrints today, thanks to a FAQ that the company released. World of Raids has a great recap of the FingerPrints FAQ in their latest news article.
World of Warcraft to launch localized version in Russia

In case you missed it:
Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced that World of Warcraft, its award-winning, subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game, is to be fully localized in Russian for release in 2008. The Russian version will be the fifth officially supported European language, complementing the existing English, French, German and Spanish versions. A third profession is unlikely, but discussion is welcome

We have heard this request before and while I would lean toward the answer being "no" until I hear otherwise, it never hurts to discuss things.
To get this out of the way, World of Warcraft is a multiplayer game, it is meant to have communities and have you interact with other people to accomplish certain things.
Now, is the reason you want a 3rd profession because you want to have access to things yourself and don't want to interact with people? Or because you feel adding another profession will make it too hard to find things when you need them?
I have played on a high population and a low population realm and while some rare recipes were a little harder to find on the low population realm, I definitely could find them and just had to put some effort into communicating with the proper player and meeting up with them. In the end I don't really see a reason to add a 3rd profession to my characters other than convenience and making things easier.
What are your thoughts?
Bornakk doesn't think a third profession is needed

I don't really see a compelling reason to add a third profession to characters. I think it is a good thing that players need to pick their professions, if players aren't willing to "break" their current combination then it seems they don't want the third one enough, but it is likely someone will pick it up any you can contact them for any BoE materials.
As an example with just two level 70s, one with all of the gathering professions and the other with Blacksmithing, Engineering, and Enchanting. With just two characters I'd have access to over half of the professions and all of the BoP items that go with each one. We want to make these BoP items strong but if players can have so many of them, they would probably be weakened.
Does having another profession benefit a character? Yes, it gives you options to more items, bother to be shared with others and bind-on-pickup that will make the character stronger. Is this better for the game? I don't think so as it allows players to have a much wider range of items and takes away from the idea of picking your profession.
You'll have to replace TBC epics in Lich King per usual

I don't think we'll be changing from this mindset for Wrath of the Lich King. If you want the best gear you get to work for it as always and any new characters won't start off with a distinct disadvantage.
Finally, a quick video; this one is from Starwindz and shows him participating in Arenas on his Tauren Resto Shaman.
var FO_24 = { movie:"http://dev.curse-gaming.com/static/flash/flvplayer.swf", width:"500", height:"350", majorversion:"7", build:"0", bgcolor:"#FFFFFF", allowfullscreen:"true", flashvars:"file=http://videos.cursebeta.com/stream2/premium/878.flv&autostart=true" }; $("#flvplayer_24").click(function(event) { UFO.create(FO_24, "flvplayer_24"); $(this).unbind('click'); });

FingerPrints? LOL
i also dislike the fact that the BS weapons are great, but the gladiators are better.... so 800g of mats (maybe) < 18000 honor :(
The one really big issue I have with the Professions is not so much the number of them (I have characters that have them all covered) but in making them really practical.on the high end. Case in point is my Level 70 paladin who is Master Swordsmith (and became so long before TBC). Upon learning the plans in Shattrah City the swords you learn favor the warrior with a couple for the rogue but nothing else especially for the paladin.that the paladin can make for himself without requiring a enchant. Why can't Blizzard introduce a class of weapons that is suited for paladin? Or weapons that has sockets. This is where I like to have him learn a third profession that he can make the gems to fit into those new sockets. Why not being able to make staves? Why not shields with sockets also? Can't Blizzard make a profession that can allow the player to make items on par with what drops in the world or instances? Engineering is another profession in need of consideration. I got a engineer at 365 skill and very little is usable outside of my profession, just only to another engineer who can make one for himself anyway. The recent engineering revamp is just window dressing and addition of the flying mount while very nice is just a bone tossed to the engineers to keep them satisfied.
As long as it's configured correctly ***AND*** you have an account on the relevant servers. EU/US/Asia use different authentication servers and your details are only on one of 'em ;p
Actually, any copy of WoW can link to any servers so long as they are configured correctly. All it takes is note pad and the change of two urls and that is it. I can access US servers from Europe if I really wanted to on European copies of the game.
I was saying that they should release a single copy of the game that supports all languages and server locations without having to edit any game files to do so. An ingame menu pre-login would not be that hard to configure.
All european accounts can play on all languageversions of the game on all servers of the game, in Europe of course. That considered, they are just trying to get to the Russians who havent bought WoW because its in English, and that would probably be a lot.
I think this is gettin ridicukous. They should just oublish a multi-language edition of the game where you can select what language you wish to view the game in from an options menu inside the game. Why they have to leech profits by going, "here... have this English version. You can buy the Russian version in a couple of years..." is beyond me.
Blizzard is very quickly going from a good game developer to a gold digging, moneyhungry bunch of gits.
With the WoW "Launcher dot exe" you can change the language of the game.
And in-game too -> ESC, Interface Options, etc...
I can't imagine how will this Russian localization look like. Russian is far more complicated language than any other the WoW is localised in, especially English, so it seems the tooltips wil be at least 2 times larger then the are in it. =)) Personally I insist they leave the option to swithch back to English.
