Name Change, Naxxramas, Halloween Goodies & more

There isn't a whole lot in terms of blue posts today that offer new information, but luckily it's Halloween, so there are tons of goodies floating around the internet! Here's a quick recap of blue posts from today, as well as some Blizzard Treats for Halloween, and a few Halloween movies.

No reduction in Primal Nether badge cost coming

Bornakk wrote:

We currently have no announced plans to reduce the Badge of Justice cost for Primal Nethers. With the heroic dungeon daily quest going in for patch 2.3 along with the addition of badges to Karazhan and Zul'Aman, it will be that much easier to collect the ones you need to complete the items that require them.

Why is the squashling pet so rare?

Bornakk wrote:

Some non-combat pets are meant to be rare. It’s not easy to find a dark whelping or get exalted with Sporeggar for the new reward there in 2.3, but when you see somebody with one of these, you know it’s a special one.

The Name Change service is here to stay.

We have no current plans to pull this new service that we just rolled out to all realms.

Here is a link to the FAQ for this new service that could help answer other questions: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=21532...

Why just Naxxramas for legacy dungeon updates?

Bornakk wrote:

One of the main reasons Naxxramas is being updated is because it fits so well with the atmosphere and story for Wrath of the Lich King. We understand that updating old raid dungeons could be fun for some people, but having level 80 players enter a bug infested desert doesn't fit too well with Northrend.

It is always possible that dungeons get updated in the future, but instead we are primarily focusing on brand new content for all of our players to enjoy.

And the Halloween Treats from Blizzard! The first three are the 2007 Pumpkin Contest Winners, and the second set of three are from a new Hallow's End Screenshot Gallery.

So how about those spooky Halloween videos? Here they are; enjoy and don't forget to click through on their title to rate them!

You have to keep in mind that pre-level cap players need a lot less "new" content than those at the level cap, regardless of percentage of players at each end of the spectrum. The primary reason for this is that those still leveling have plenty to do, but those at the cap reach an end point eventually in a game that's not supposed to have an end.

Well there you have it, its official. Blizzard is gearing this game and its future content to high level characters and raiding guilds. "We understand that updating old raid dungeons could be fun for some people.... " "...but instead we are primarily focusing on brand new content for all of our players to enjoy. " Ummm helloooooo there are, by Blizzard's count 9 million players. Are they saying that, from the way they make it sound, that 95% of the player base is level 70's running around dying to do stuff like what they propose? For frik sakes how many actually get to that point!? Like 3% ? There is a whole player base that haven't even seen the high level stuff yet let alone the pre-BC raid content and probably never will. There is such a focus to rush to Oulland whereas I seen players begging even paying for groups to do the lower level content. I feel sorry for the paladin and warlock players who are trying to get their epic mounts. I'm sorry but this high end centric way of thinking and presumptuous mentality is a old trap and Blizzard either gotten lazy or lost much imagination in making the attempt of taking the whole game and making it better.

Besides, it fits pretty well and a lot of people who have done all of Naxx said its the best raid yet. I personally dont mind at all, especially since I havent seen any of it.

I wonder what they developers are going to say about Sunwell though... At this rate, with their current release plan (which is pretty screwed btw) it will see about 10 days of Game time before WotLK hits.

They're bringing Naxx back because a lot of the designers were complaining about the lack of use from Naxx. There weren't a whole lot of people who saw Naxx all the way through.

Updating naxx will be cool. I think they should do event updates. Like when 1.11 came out and all the zigs were over org and sw etc. Have something go on in AQ, BWL maybe 3x a year so the old raids wont be forgotten. Something like ppl tryin to revive cethun or one of Nefs kids are tryin to take over..that sorta thing, but tune it for lvl 70s

i think its good.. ive never been to naxx so it would be kind of cool to go to it
