You're implying that everybody and their grandmother have T5 stuff on farm status already? "Mostly T5 stuff" are things that many, many guilds are never ever seen yet. I'm not questioning their skill - after all they've got all this gear with it, I simply say that there's simply too few candidates for this first kill - only those who completed previous kills are geared enough and can possibly do that, so because of that all those "world first" news do not bring any surprise anymore.

Sry, but that doesnt make any sense to me... Due to their speed I hardly believe that they are all kitted out in "the best gear availale" gear. Just had a look on some of their chars on Armory. And they were mostly wearing T5 stuff, not clattered in T6. Some still uses Karazhen gear.

So, pls dont question their skill, just because they have way better gear than you probably have.

Another point why those first kills are no longer interesting is because all previous world-first gave them gear that simplified next world-firsts. It is really absolutely no surprising that completely geared out guild managed to beat hard encounter first - everyone else have much lesser chances, because they don't have equal encounter from start already. They don't restart from zero from everyone, they're already have a head start. As exgaratted example, suppose Hogger II is added on next patch, brand new 10th elite. Lots of new characters would wipe, but any 30th would kill him right away. Would that make its world first any interesting?

I don't really see a problem with world firsts being announced. While I can agree that Nihilum achieving every single world first sort of plays down on the interesting facets of an encounter being defeated, it also tells you that there's a guild out there willing to dedicate their play time to making sure they're the first to do something.

Is that really interesting? To some, no; some will however find following their progress entertaining. If for nothing else, then to see some of the comments posted toward Nihilum. While we all see things differently at times, I think everyone can agree that the guild has sparked some interesting, and sometimes heated, discussions.

At this point though, it feels as if it's turned from a "who" situation to a "when."

Alright to start off, i would congratulate nihilum on this kill but i already have on their website. www.nihilum.eu . Thats for the people that were saying the things about a website for them. On top of that they have realeased many vidoes about their world-first's or pretty much any of the high end bosses kills. Most of the videos for the boss kills can be found on their website. They have yet to release a Archimonde kill vid or Illidan, but then again,

    1. It takes time to physically record the vid with fraps. Fraps is known to have a ton of issues and when they happen they REALLY happen.

2.Yes these boss fights are intensive and require complete focus to have them beat. Losing one member of the raid is a crippling effect on some fights. So by having someone run fraps and try to capture the fight/kill from the best shot possible is rather challenging.

    3. Most videos from nihilum have some type of music playing. That takes time to edit into the vid and also editing the vid takes time as well. These guys do an awesome job at what they do and it only fits that the videos dont get instantly released.

Nihilum spends a great deal of time practicing these encounters and coming up with strategies to beat the encounter. They deserve credit for their time spent on getting these beaten. So maybe they've had a bunch of world firsts, that make it seem like they spend almost all day and night on the game, buy hey thats what serious raiding guilds are all about. Every moment that you can be on the game is used to farm mats and to get everything ready for the raid , let alone actually doing the raid.

As for Nihilum actually putting out strategies on how to kill these bosses? I would think that they are doing awesome at not spilling secrets and strats. If I were them I wouldnt put out a strat, only for one reason though. They didnt have anything to go by, or had any idea on what to expect when they first started practicing on them. They learned, made mistakes of course, probablly wiped a bunch of times but they found a way on how to beat these guys.

Life is a learning situation. Does anyone give you a written strategy everday on how you are going to accomplish something? The answer is no, and thats only because its better to learn something yourself, because in the end you will feel a bigger sense of gratification and statisifaction from actually doing something without help.

For the people out there that are jealous of their accomplishments, then do something about it and try to progress as they have. Easier said then done but its better then sitting around and waiting to put down others accomplishments. my two cents on the situation.

Dont hate, congratulate. It's great that they have members that are so dedicated and active ofc.

    First off congrats to Nihilum.

Now as to the rest, meh. Sure I do have to admit it is getting to the "Oh they got another world first, cool, I guess" point, this really is cause of the news aspect of it to me. Its kinda like getting bombarded with news of such and such celebrity all the time. But don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking what they are doing by any way shape or form. Its just the repetitive way the news gets out.

The strategy comments, come on people. Stop whining. If they give out the Strategy, cool. If they don't, cool by me as well. It is kinda their decision.

So in conclusion, just stop the pointless inane arguing. All it does is create drama, and drama is not cool in my book. If your the looking at it jealous types, catch up. Me, I'll keep playing the game and probably not have a care in the world.

Also, Curse rocks :) (See I'm not biased at all ;P)

@Biospowa Do you really think that someone who is close to a world first kill even would consider recording it? Recording takes CPU power, and if I were GM I'd NEVER allow any1 to gimp their performance until the boss was dead. And "It's nothing big :)"?? They were the first of nice (9) MILLION people to achieve something, but perhaps that's nothing big. I bet you don't think that the first moonlanding were anything to brag about either....

Just put yourself in their position. If you spent hours and hours a day trying to work this out, and you then make it, without the help of anyone but the people in the raid, would you not have a desire to tell everyone about it? I certainly would. I agree, in the long run it get's sort of "uh...ok". If there were more guilds like Nihilum I'd agree that world first is kinda cool.

lol because we get like 5 world firsts in 7 days everyone goes OMG I want to be a world first too !!

These people have a certain dedication to the cause and it's their damn right to have some media attention referring to it !

    Kungen crits blizz again :)

  • #11

Why should they tell u how to it. I have more fun in finding out how to kill a boss with my guild, then reading how to kill a boss cos in my opinion if u need someone to show how to do it u should not be doing it.

  • #12

Who cares if they do or don't help he community. Its their guild, their choice to play the game as they want, and their waste of time. So people, get over yourself; who are you to criticizer/demand/judge/have any say at all?

(did you spot the hypocrisy?, good job)

    /golfclap

Oh yes, I'm so jealous I can't raid 12 hours a day or whatever. I agree with those commenting before. Enough with these first-kill-news.

  • #14

They do make videos, they just take a while to get them edited and released

  • #15

Yeee they killed Archimonde... aand whats now? Gratz to em but there is nothing big :) Nihilum can kill every boss which Blizzard made fast because 30 freaks playin game 18 hours per day with stable raid so its seriously nothing special, I will rather see that any other guild made first world kill like Last Resort or Decimation or Forte. Cos Nihilum cant make any video (maybe they dunno how to work with fraps) from "teh imba" first world kills. And seriously look at Last Resort vids = imba quality which can help other guilds help with killing boss.
