The Phoenix has landed.

"...the World First phoenix mount belongs to Ezra Chatterton, the young man who recently went to Blizzard's offices with the Make-A-Wish foundation."

I think this is awesome. I've been playing with a model viewer and stumbled upon the phoenix mount. I was trying to figure out where the hell it came from.

I don't understand why people are so negative when it comes to helping someone who is less fortunate.

What a coincidence.. I was just browsing through realmhistory.net looking for a rare crafter, a site i haven't visited in 6 months, and I happened to see that a guild called Method on Sylvanas EU had it drop today. I wanted to find a screenshot, but Thottbot didn't even have the item in the database, and Allakhazam didn't know who dropped it. WowHead did however (screenshot) and i saw that the character on the phoenix was not alliance, then I read the text under it; "First mount given to Ezra Chatterton by Blizzard through the Make a Wish Foundation". I was curious, so I did a little research on google, and found this article, only a week old. In it, they say that not only did he get a Phoenix, but also bump from level 63 to 70, a bunch of epics, some gold, his own unique crossbow designed from his own thoughts, his dog Kyle (as a non-combat pet i presume?) and he laid voice to a character and designed a quest, which will be added to the game in a patch a few weeks from now.

A few hours later, I read this article here at curse-gaming, and only then did i realize how recent Ezra and guild Method has gotten the mount..

I don't care if someone thinks this is unfair, or what.. If this makes this kids life a tiny bit better, for the short time he has left, why the hell should he not have it? Of course they can't start doing this for every sick kid in the world, just like the president can't see all the kids that wishes for it through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, but the first time, everyone can make an exception. I say way to go Blizz, PR stunt or not, they definitely gained a few points in my book.

Congratulations, to bad we don't see any in-game screenshots tho.

Saying anything else other than "OMG THAT'S SO NICE!" Will get you a negitive rating... The kid isn't going to read this, blizzard isn't going to read this... lets just all relax. B-rating the kid is one thing, joking asking if someone getting a Pheonix mount is another, grow up and stop being fat housewives about everything.

Edit: To confirm, i'm not dissing the kid, i'm dissing the overly sensitive people.

It doesn't really matter what is said about the gift given by Blizzard for its a gesture that is beyond need of vaildation. Its a gift for a young man like Ezra who's time on this earth is numbered and when you're in someones shoes like his, such a gesture is worth more than all the tea in China. Lets hope that all the cynics have somebody who'll be around for them when their time is up and willing to help pull the grass over them.

It's a nice PR move for a sick gamer, let it go guys. If it helps the kid feel better if only for a few days, i'm all for it. Remember, it's just a game.

    Go to hell.

Put me in Blizzard's shoes and this would be the result:

"Well, you're dying, so we really don't see the point."

Basically, a nice, polite "Go die somewhere else, thanks."
