Netherdrake mount information revealed!

Since news of Armored Netherdrakes being available to members of the top team of the Arena season, players have been questioning Blizzard on where the normal Netherdrake mounts are from. Well now Drysc has given a bit of information to help cement the rumors, in this post.

Drysc writes: "Weird, I know I posted about this last Thursday. Well anyway, the armored Netherdrake will be available through the arenas as a reward, and a Netherdrake that has a distinctly different appearance from the armored Netherdrake will be available through a quest line which has not yet been implemented. It's likely that it will be implemented with the next major content patch.

They're both epic flying mounts, just to clear up any confusion on their speed."

So where will the soon-to-be implemented quest start? Well, rumors have been going about that the Netherwing reputation will be involved - and with the quest chain to improve yourself to Neutral with this reputation - found in Shadowmoon Valley, there's a good chance this is true. Only time will tell, but players can now rest easy, knowing that there will indeed be an alternative way to obtain a Netherdrake mount, other than through the Arena system.

Drysc goes on to add: "As far as I'm aware the current plan is to make them both the same speed, which I believe is planned for 310%, a bit faster than the purchasable epic flying mounts. That's of course subject to change."

At 310% speed, this places them 30% faster than the Armored Gryphon and Wyvern variants available to players currently, and at about the same speed as a flight path gryphon or wyvern, which is certainly exciting information for players looking to obtain this mount.

Well BaumJoe, as Ranmas already said, nothing stacks with the Riding crop in the first place. Secondly 10% is the fastest that one can go on a mount without crusader aura (fastes you can go from item bonuses). Secondly, your math is off. The crop adds 10% bonus to your mounts speed, not adds +10% speed to existing speed rate. This is known widely with riding crops on regular and epic land mounts. A regular 60% land mount does not move at 60% it is 160% as (almost) everyone knows. if you take 10% of 160 (which equals 16) and add it to the 160, thats 176% movement speed with a crop. (192% with crusader aura) On an epic land mount, you move at 200% speed, which when you add 10% (which = 20) you get 220% movement speed with a crop. (240% if you have crusader aura) on a swift rare mount (that required artisan or "epic" flight training) it is 280% plus the origional 100, so your flying at 380% with no speed bonus. if you add 10% (which equals 38) you get 418% flight speed on this mount with a crop (456% with crusader aura) Lastly if you get an epic flying mount which is +310% speed, thats 410% speed base. Add 10% (which = 41) and you get 451% speed which is comparable to the average flight speed of a flightpath windrider/bat/gryphon/hippogryph (492% with crusader aura)

All of these speed have been tested and confirmed with titanspeed, fuspeed, and monkeyspeed with same results. The only obvious exception is the Arena Armored PvP netherdrake, and the Pheonix. The PvE Netherdrakes have been tested on PTR to confirm speeds already.

I hate to break it to you Baumjoe but the speed boost from the spures, carrot and the enchant don't stack with the Crop. The spures, carrot and enchant will stack with each other. However the Crop doesn't stack with anything else. So the most you'll see is that extra 10% from the crop if you have it

well lets do some more math. if the nether drake mount moves at 310% slap the 20% pally aura on it and its 330% slap the new leather working trinket on its 340% and of course carrot on a stick 343% and mithril spures which would be lets say 1% so if all these stack which they should pallys will be able to move at 344% flight speed with a nether drake and every one else would move at 324%

Still wondering about the non epic mount.. remember them saying it would be at least as fast as regular epic mounts.. but now it's just 60% :s

I could have forgotten how to do math, but I believe 1.107 is 110.7%. Yes, the author could have worded it better by saying the netherdrake mount will be an extra 30% faster than walking speed compared to the epic griffon/wyvern mounts, but we all knew what he meant.

Old news, blue's have been saying this for like 2 weeks now.

EDIT: But, I guess it's helpful none the less. :P Well done article.

    @ Asherett

It's not 30% OF the 280% its plus 30% to the normal walk speed which is 100%

    @ Asherett

You make me sick with your math.

    just go fly around. lol.

but if it as fast as a "flight path" thats pretty fast, and im jazzed either way.

A mount travelng at 310% of normal speed is not 30% faster than a mount traveling at 280% of normal speed. It is approximately 10.7% faster (0.310/0.280 = 1.107etc). Not even Blizzard uses THAT perverted math :)

Drysc is definitely a shinning light in the darkness of obscurity. He is a man I would love to Tunak Tunak Tun dance with and probably sing the lyrics in the most brutally sung way... well I am sure alcohol would accompany the night well. But I want them to add that questline in now! Either that or give us our new content patch 2 years early than expected. I actually wish they would finish the world so flying in the world would be allowed :/ oh well.
