Looks like it's a big news day today! The Cataclysm
alpha/beta character copy page is now live on the World of Warcraft
website. This is for the alpha currently going on and the beta which
should be starting soon.

Yes, we can confirm that the Family & Friends phase of the testing process for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has begun. The closed beta test phase has not yet started, but we will provide updated information when it does.
As a reminder, the opt-in has not been announced yet, so consider any
emails you receive a scam until it has been. The only people who have
likely been contacted are members of the press, fansites and any friends
& family testers on the Blizzard Friends List.

Never understand why people want to get involved in beta testing, just to have an early look at the game. Once the game is released major of the game has not changed and you get bored.
Unless you addicted to raiding very night or grinding for achievements/gold.

I've actually been in a few beta's myself and I do it to help test the game. Getting a "sneak peake" is just a side benefit.
