Wargaming.net has revealed the third faction for flight combat action MMO World of Warplanes! Soviet warplanes will be joining the fray, including the La-5 light fighter and Il-2 ground-attack plane, along with more than 20 other warbirds. Additional planes will be added to the Soviet line as the game nears launch.
“We are glad to finally introduce the latter of the big trio,” said World of Warplanes producer Anton Sitnikau. “We are always striving to reach a combination of accuracy and fun in our games and hope our test pilots currently in global alpha will find the Soviet warbirds as fun to fly as the American and German planes.”
World of Warplanes is Wargaming.net's follow-up to their incredibly popular MMO, World of Tanks, which features massive PvP battles where players take to their World War II era tanks rather than a traditional fantasy-style MMO setting.
In World of Warplanes, players will participate in a massively multiplayer flight combat action game set in the Golden Age of military aviation. The armored warfare theme previously seen in World of Tanks is continued, but escalated to a new level with full-scale in-game virtual pilot careers spanning from 1930's biplanes to Korean War jet fighters.
