Welcome to the weekly Minecraft Spotlight! In this issue we will be covering "BleedingMobs", a plugin created by schneeleo and Jacob_perry.
What happens when you hit a mob in Minecraft? Not that much really, the mob briefly flashes red and that's about it. Even slashing them with a sword does not make a difference; not even one drop of blood will flow. This plugin aims to change that, completely.

This plugin will change any fight into a bloody mess! Upon hitting your opponents, whether they would be animals, players or monsters; blood will gush out of them by the gallons. When they flee, they will even leave a trail of blood behind. The blood will remain on the ground for a brief period of time, until it disappears.
Of course your own character will bleed too, and not just when getting hit! For example; when falling down to the ground from too great a height, blood will be spilled as well.

However, the "blood" is in fact not real blood. Because there is not any blood to be found in the game, the creators of this plugin chose to use existing items to create an effect that resembles blood quite well and fits the style of the game too.
The blood and gore consist of coloured wool blocks, pieces of redstone and other items for mob-specific blood types. Blood puddles on the ground are achieved by temporarily replacing blocks with coloured wool. There is really nothing to worry about, as the ground reverts back to its original state automatically.

The developers of this plugin did not just add the same type of blood to all mobs. As stated before, they created a fitting blood effect for each animal and monster!
Players, villagers and animals will have regular red blood, either combined with redstone, bones or feathers. Other mobs however, were given a more special form of blood. For example: Creepers will bleed in a green colour, Skeletons will lose bones, Slimes bleed in the form of slimeballs and an Enderman's blood is pitchblack.

As always, this plugin can be customized as well by making changes to the config file. Many features can be configured, such as the amount of blood upon attacking, falling and death. Using permissions it is also possible to completely turn off the blood effects for specific players. This can be handy if some players on your server do not enjoy the sight of blood.
Each type of blood can be configured as well. Want players to bleed as if they are a Slime, or any other mob for that matter? No problem at all!

BleedingMobs is a fun addition to any server. Still, if you are looking for a realistic blood effect, this is certainly not the plugin for you! The blood effect is quite primitive, due to the use of blocks and other items that are already part of the original game. That however, makes it all the more fitting to the game's graphical style!
