For this week’s World of Tanks mod spotlight we take a look at 3D Tank Icons, a tank countour mod created by MrNazar.
The Mod
If you are anything like me, you like to keep your user interface looking sharp, sophisticated, and ready to provide urgent information in a non-clumsy way. To that effort I present you MrNazar’s 3D Tank Icons. This mod adjust the “tank contours”, the icons on the left and right of the screen, to a much more visually appealing skin.
Each new icon displays the actual 3D model of the tank being played instead of a generic silhouette. Additionally several versions of the icons provide distinct color coding to differentiate each type of tank, allowing players to quickly determine what they are facing so they can react accordingly (lots of red? Hide from arty!) Here is a quick video displaying all of the available options for 3D Tank Icons:
Installation
MrNazar has been kind enough to give not only one, but 6 different options to choose from. As such you will see several more folders to pick from in your download from curse. All you need to do is:

1. Download the mod here. 2. Open the .zip file, where you will now see 6 folders. 3. In each folder is a .jpg picture of what that version looks like. Search through each folder until you find the style you want. 4. Copy the res_mods folder of your desired style, and merge it in your /world_of_tanks/ main folder. 5. Boot up the game! |

FYI: If you want to remove the tank tier Roman numbers from overlaying on the icons in the team roster, go to Settings > Game > Team Panel Settings > Uncheck "Show vehicle tier".
