WildStar Addon Spotlight: MountIt

WildStar Addon Spotlight

MountIt

Welcome to our weekly WildStar Addon Spotlight! This week we've got the spotlight on MountIt, an addon created by bricriu_ that summons random mounts and lets you whitelist only the mounts you want to use.

This weeks spotlight is a great example of an addon that adds an always overlooked feature, to randomly summon one of your mounts. MMO's today are littered with mounts, and WildStar is no different. Managing them in WildStar is pretty much non-existent and that's where MountIt comes to save the day.

While there might be quite the selection of mounts in any MMO, the problem lies in the fundamental nature of them, you can only ride ONE! While you may only like one of your mounts, say the Plasmatic Hyperboard Mount, chances are, there's at least one other mount, possibly the Orbitron Mount, that you also like to use.

Sure, it's not the most practical addon, it basically gives you a better way to summon mounts, but the best part of the addon is whitelisting which mounts you want to randomly select. Finally, I hate to say this, but MountIt actually hasn't been updated to API v. 9 yet, it's still listed as API v. 8, but it does work just fine if you force-load it. It was first made to save your default mount between sessions, which was a notorious bug for some time, but luckily that feature isn't needed anymore and it doesn't seem interfere with it anyway.

Installation

  • Install using the free Curse Client, which you can download here, or follow the manual instructions below:
    1. Download the Addon from here.
    2. Locate your Addons folder. (C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\NCSOFT\WildStar\Addons)
    3. Place the MountIt folder found in the .zip file into your Addons folder.

Final Words

MountIt may need to be force loaded, but that's one of the best parts about this addon. It's stood the test of time and still works as intended. It's a nice little addon to add some variety to the mounts you ride in WildStar and if you are a mount collector, I'm sure you'll appreciate being able to whitelist only the mounts you want to randomly select from.
