About Eth's Buff Bars

The addon is currently being rewritten from scratch, both to improve performances and allow more features to get in. The end goal is to provide an addon that can display your buffs in any way you want with complete freedom on customization to decide where each buff should appear (even in multiple places or not at all) and how the buff should look (form, size, colors)
It's quite a long process, the buff display part is more or less complete at the moment and I "just" have the UI left to create (which is probably the longest part to get it done right)

Buff Bars in action

A few videos of kills made by players using the buff bars, if you made a nice one, feel free to send me a link to add it here

Quick How-To

  • Left-click and drag'n'drop the addon's icon at the desired location
  • Right-click it to open settings (or type /ebb in chat)
  • Configure what buffs (or debuffs) you want to track on yourself and your offensive/defensive target
  • While settings window is open, drag the dummy bars around to set where real buffs should be displayed (and use mouse wheel to change the size of the buff bars)
  • Profit!

Advanced Users

You can change the color of buff bars by adding an hexadecimal color code after the buff name. Example: if you want Breaching Shot's buff bar to appear in pink, instead of entering "Breaching Shot" in the buff list, enter "Breaching Shot#E81067" instead.

Known Issues

Let me know about any bug with 1.2 version

Installation Instructions

  1. Unzip the EthBuffBars folder into ...\The Secret World\Data\Gui\Customized\Flash\
  2. Unzip the Script\ebb file into ...\The Secret World\Scripts\ (Create that folder if it's missing) if you want to be able to use command line
  3. Restart the game

You should have those files installed in your game directory

  • ...\The Secret World\Data\Gui\Customized\Flash\EthBuffBars\CharPrefs.xml
  • ...\The Secret World\Data\Gui\Customized\Flash\EthBuffBars\Modules.xml
  • ...\The Secret World\Data\Gui\Customized\Flash\EthBuffBars\EthBuffBars.swf
  • ...\The Secret World\Scripts\ebb (optional)

Uninstallation Instructions

  1. Delete the ...\The Secret World\Data\Gui\Customized\Flash\EthBuffBars\ folder
  2. Delete the ...\The Secret World\Script\ebb file
  3. Restart the game

Find more of my TSW mods on, that has a few nifty tools for the game: an item/mission/... database, a tool to calculate glyph stats and more to come.

  • Slight tweak to buff bars removal to prevent them from disappearing for too long when a buff loses a stack

  • Fix for buffs without a duration

  • Attempt to fix buff bars not disappearing correctly

  • Fixed Colors not being saved correctly for offensive target's buffs

Is this still happening with last version (1.1) ? If so, i'll have to check more into it.

  • #20

    it works perfectly now. ty

  • #19

ill try it out when i wake up. ill get back to you

  • #16

I cant wait till the "Defensive target tracking" feature is live !! :)

  • #9

Uploaded 1.1 to Curse, should be availaible "soon". It's fixing the biggest issues (settings not saving, unrecognized buffs & lack of stack display) and adding resizing and separating self/target buffs.

Will try to get more of the requested features into next version.

  • #10

Are 1.1 available? I downloaded the last one and it looks like it stil 1.0.

  • #13

    Not seeing 1.1 on curseforge > <

  • #11

You can always grab new version on CurseForge while waiting for them to be approved by Curse (I had to reupload 1.1 before it got approved, so it probably bounced back at the end of the approval queue)

Edit: my bad, curseforge isn't showing the new files in the list until they're approved, but they're still visible/downloadable on their own URL

Another idea: It would be nice to have a configurable Audio Sample which would be played if a specific buff (where the player wants this, you would not want Audio Samples for all Buffs of course) comes up (or a specific minimum Buff Stack Size).

It is a great addon, but I also would like to have stacks of Buffs handled. Additionally to showing them I think it would be nice to display the bar only if a specified "minimum stack amount" is on. For me it seemed that most Buffs I am interested in are such Stack-Buffs.

    Thanks for this addon!

Until next version, using those commands should let you save settings (might make the addon's icon appear for those who don't see it)

    /unloadclip EthBuffBars.swf
    /loadclip EthBuffBars.swf

And I'll make sure to check up all the buffs/debuffs mentionned in comments for next version (with a few of the missing features)

Don't use those anymore, they won't load the UI correctly, just use /reloadui from now on.

    Great start!!

Please add count on the stackable ones if at all possible :)

  • #3

I can't seem to get it to work with any of my Blood stuff yet. Shields and DoT's. I have it working on fist HoT's though. If im doing something wrong Im sure i can fix it eventually.

But I wanted to say thanks! I would like for it eventually to have a list we can pick spells from, rather then typing each on in. But once again, I love this!

Agreed, this is a welcome addition!  I tried it out last night and it seems promising.  A couple of quick thoughts/questions:  I wanted to have Exposed and Debilitated show up so I could track the stacks of these.  Debilitated showed up but I didn't see any way to get a stack count and I couldn't get Exposed to show up at all.

May be user error or may be a bug and a feature request, not sure. :P

Anyway, keep up the good work! :)

I consider this functionality a necessity. I know this is early work, but thanks for your efforts. I'm already enjoying it.

One thing that would be nice is to choose whether the buffs stack from top down, or bottom up. I tend to have mine positioned near the bottom of my screen, so stacking from the bottom up works much better for me.

Also you might consider how you handle buffs that stack where each stack has a timer. For instance, Warmth (Fists healing). I might have 5 stacks of this, and each stack lasts 3 secs. You might overlay the stack count remaining, but have the bar value be the total time of the overall effect (5 x 3 secs). Or, segment the bar into the number of stacks and just have the segments fall off as the stack count drops.

Lastly, being able to create more than one buff group - say, one for buffs and another for debuffs - with independent layouts. It would be awesome if these worked on friendly targets too - as a healer/support, your entire buff/debuff management would be taken care of by this addon.

Anyway, thanks again, great work so far.
