About Topbar Information Overload

Adds a bunch of information to the black bar at the top of the screen. Everything is fully togglable on/off through the in-game settings window.

Here's a list of what you can choose to display:

  • Your system time.
  • 12/24-hour modes.
  • Current latency as text.
  • Latency text and icon coloured according to your current latency (user defined thresholds).
  • Your current FPS (Frames Per Second).
  • Your current Pax Romana amount which can be clicked to show the tokens window.
  • Show Black Bullions.
  • Show White- and/or Black Marks.
  • Show Friends and/or Cabal members online.
  • Your current coordinates in the game-world.
  • Your current inventory space status.

There's also other options:

  • Add-on Manager - see the description further down for information.
  • Hide the compass.
  • Offset the items from the left and right.
  • Adjust the transparency of the bar.
  • Add drop shadow to the elements.
  • Adjust the brightness of nearly all elements.

Regarding the latency threshold values: It will be green up until the first value, yellow until the next, orange until the 3rd and above that red. Currently there's no proper value check, so if you for instance write a lower value in field 2 than in field 1 it will mess up. The values are given in milliseconds.

NOTICE: Restart your client completely after installing this add-on. You should always do so when adding/changing .xml files.

You will find a new menu item called "Add-on Manager" (near the bottom of the list) which will open up the Add-on Manager where you can choose to click the "Topbar Information Overload" to open the settings.

Please note that add-on developers need to change their code to hook into this - it's not something that "just works." So if you want this to happen with your favourite add-on talk to the developer and let them know you want it to support the Add-on Manager in Topbar Information Overload.

You open the Add-on Manager the way you used to open the Topbar Information Overload settings, it replaces that item in the menu. You can also Shift + click on Menu to directly open the Add-on Manager.

Inside the Add-on Manager you will see a list of registered add-ons. If you hover over an add-on in the list a tooltip will appear with some information. If it has options you can click on the add-on in the list to open its option window. If it's slotable you can right-click or Shift + click the add-on in the list to open the slot picker.

The slot picker will allow you to assign an add-on to any of the 16 slots in the topbar, so you can quickly access the functions setup by the add-on developer when clicking the icon. This is of course important for an add-on like Deck Manager, which would be a hassle to through the Add-on Manager to open it.

If the slot is dark it's already assigned to an add-on (a tooltip will reflect this and inform you of which one), but you can of course overwrite it - it's merely an indicator. Likewise the slots will light up in the topbar as you hover over them in the slot picker. If you want to remove an add-on from a slot simply open the slot picker for that add-on and click the slot it's assigned to.

In the Add-on Manager there is also a button for the slot settings as well as a checkbox which will close the Add-on Manager when you open the options for an add-on.

The slot settings window will allow you to configure the placement of the slots. Default they hook to the compass, which will give you the option of setting the icon spacing. You can also choose to move them as a group of 4 each, still allowing you to control the icon spacing. The last option allows you to freely move each slot to wherever in the topbar you want.

Note that if you input a number in the input box it will only get saved if you confirm the change with return/enter while the input box is in focus (the text cursor is in it).

  • Changed the menu icon/label checkboxes to a dropdown so you can’t actually remove both of them. If you’ve changed it to not show one you will have to set it again.
  • Cleaned up the Bar Slot Picker window a bit.
  • Unused slots can now be seen in the Bar Slot Picker window – they are shown with a redish number. This means that they’re “occupied” by an add-on that isn’t loaded. You can clear it by right clicking the slot if you want.
  • New button added to the Add-on Manager window to clear all unused slots. Basically this does what the above does, except it just clears all slots where you no longer have the add-on loaded.

  • Adjusted the colouring of various elements.
  • Reduced the inventory, clock and latency icon sizes to better fit with the rest of the icons.
  • Options window scroll position is now saved across sessions.
  • Switched download and mail icon positions.
  • Almost all elements can now be dimmed using the new brightness option.
  • Font style can now be changed without having to reload the UI.
  • Changed some things regarding load order and such, which should make it more reliable in loading everything correctly.
  • Optimised a few bits and pieces.

Version 2.2.0

  • Can now show online friends and cabal members. These are also clickable for opening friends list and cabal management.
  • Icon added to the inventory readout, makes it more clear in the information overload (hoho).
  • Fixed inventory not changing to red colouring when reaching 0 free slots.
  • The latency colouring can now be set to smoothly transition between the colours for each threshold.
  • There's no longer a dead spot between the icons and text where you can't click for the different clickable items.
  • New options window with new groupings, labels, scrollbar, resizable and what not.
  • A bunch of internal code clean-up, mostly related to building and positioning the different elements in the bar.

    This mod is great but it needs an update to allow the menu shortcut of new LFG feature. For now, LFG menu entry is hidden by this mod.

    Besides, instead of being a competitor of EthanolRift, maybe you two could join to make a standard along your mods ? (I'm mostly thinking about your both addons managers)

    works great for me with only one minor issue. the "You have mail" icon never goes away even with every entry deleted it still seems to believe i have mail.

    Edit: nevermind its not your mod causing it. its an issue with EnhancedMarketPlace.

    I see a new item named 'Addon Manager', but there is no item named 'Information Overload'. Is there a console command to get to some kind of settings menu? Also, the Addon Manager doesn't show anything inside it, just the title and an empty box.

    I can't get this to work.  As I understand it, the 1.1.1+ client will read any files under ..\Customized regardless of where they are placed or what folder they are placed in (  This has led to mod developers hashing their files in any which way, inexorably leading to malfunction on the frontend because most (non-scripting) users are going to have difficulty deciphering the contradictory and complicated readme's.  On top of that, many of the addon readme's I've examined tonight have either included instructions on how to clear out the files made extraneous by the 1.1.1 patch, or simply haven't updated their instructions to reflect the patch.

    Simplicity is key.  Say what you like about WoW, installing addons was a damn breeze-
    Step 1: Open [AddonName] .zip file, extract [AddonName] folder into ..\Addons.

    This kind of simplicity is within the grasp of TSW modders.  If the modding community begins to distribute their addon packages like so:  Data\Gui\Customized†\Flash\[AddonName]\[AddonFiles], and point their Prefs.xml files to that location, users can simply extract the .zip into their game directory without having to muddle about with distributing each addon's xml and sfw files to two different places.  To uninstall, delete the addon's folder in ..\Flash.  Presto.  

    Regardless of my file-shuffling, however, I can't get this addon to work, so I'm headed to bed, unfulfilled with my vision of having a realtime clock in this amazing game. I wish to express my appreciation for the dev's efforts in creating this addon.  Standardization is paramount!  -yawn-  ~Iso

    †(unfortunately, some addons I've seen insist on being extracted to the ..\Default directory to overwrite TSW's stock UI files.  That seems a bit dodgy when the client checks the ..\Customized directory first for UI modifications before loading the files in ..\Default.  I'd advise disregarding such 'quick'n'dirty' directions and putting all your addons to the ..\Customized directory, and edit the .xml files' 'movie =' setting  to reflect the file's new home.  It should still work.)

    Update: I underestimated my hyperfocused mind.  I figured out the problem.  For some reason, the modules.xml file in CombatFactory's subdirectory in ..\Customized comes with a module entry for VTIO.  I know not why that is, and I daren't ask.

    End result is, the mod is functioning perfectly, at the following configuration.

    I suspect that it would be all the same to TSW if all of those files were contained inside ..\Flash\VTIO, but I'm seriously too tired to contemplate rearranging them again.  Night!

    Thanks for the info, but I could only get it to work when a copy of Viper_TopbarInformationOverload.swf was in BOTH the Flash\Customized directory and the VTIO directory.


    Something is definitely messed up here.

    Oh, and if you wouldn't mind a bit of constructive criticism, Viper_TopbarInformationOverload is quite a mouthful, and I can't tell you how many times I just had to copy/paste it tonight.  VTIO would be much more efficient as a filename.  Thanks!

    I can't get this to work.  It worked prior to the 1.1.2 patch.  I'm also running Dungeon Finder, Viper_DeckManager, BagSort, Ultimate Crafter and Combat Factory.

    Yeah, I did that and Steam had a coronary.  It wanted to redownload the whole game, said none of the games files passed the integrity check.

    So I got the installer from Funcom and had to reinstall the game.  Now the addon works.

    It would be nice if when we have the Addon Manager open. There was some nature of onscreen information letting us know that RIGHT CLICKING on a mod in the manager list will bring up the HOTLINK option for the LINK ICONS at the top.

    I either missed where this information was, or it just isn't there.

    Just something that says "Right Click on a Addon to attach a HOTLINK in the Topbar"

    I almost uninstalled this addon because at first it would just do it for you if you installed a MOD that was supported for the Topbar. After you have to do it manually.

    Would also be a good option to have a toggle to AUTO add MODS to the Hotbar when you first install them if they are supported.

    Other then that, GREAT MOD.... freaking love it.... honestly only downloaded it because it added a REAL TIME clock. After I started to see all the features I was amazed how this wasn't part of launch code honestly. YOU ROCK!

    WISH LIST - Some type of HOTBAR ICONS built into the Topbar. ( Sorta how the LINK ICONS for other MODS are now ). Make it so we can click a button on the Top Bar with a Deck Build / Gear.

    Maybe some type of Merge of Code with the Deck Builder Mod.

    Love the work you have done to allow other modders to hook onto the top bar.

    BUT, i would like to see TopBarInfoOverload to use the system itself and for greater customizability in where you place items.

    Ie. being able to place items to the left, middle left, middle right and right of the bar.

    This would require all your elements to be placeable as well ofc, but this also makes sense right?
