About [9.1] ReCo's Vertical Techtree

- Easy installation: use the setup or the manual installation files
- Good old vertical tech tree instead of the new horizontal tech tree
- Uncluttered layout - tanks are nicely ordered by their tier, class and type
- Loads and loads of customization options
- Pretty lines: simple and nice-looking vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines between tanks
- A better unified look for all tanks/icons/buttons and improved graphics (this is optional)
- Compatibility with most common screen resolutions from 1024 to 4752
- Compatibility with all other mods (well, except other tech tree mods ;)

- As mentioned before, this mod should be fully compatible with every other mod. The following files are used by this mod:
- SWF: NodesLib, techtree. XML: tree-shared, uk-tree, usa-tree, ussr-tree, china-tree, france-tree, germany-tree, japan-tree

- Make sure to have administrator rights and read/write privileges
- If you get an error 5 security message, take control of your "...\Users\<name>\AppData\Local\Temp\" folder
- Select the right folder for installation (which is the root of your main World of Tanks game folder,
e.g. "World_of_Tanks", NOT your "res_mods" folder, NOT your "<version>" folder)
- If the installer fails, install the mod manually or via Curse Client (see above)
- If the tech tree crashes on load up or behaves oddly, it is highly likely related to other mods!
- Try a clean installation (rename your old "res_mods" folder, then create a new one)
- Make sure that any crashes are not related to the NVIDIA GeForce video driver bug and keep your drivers updated

Hey, love the mod, but I have one suggestion and one request.

First, the installation of the different addons is very... clunky.  I thought maybe you could just include in the readme a way to edit the XML files so users can format it the way they want, but realized quickly that it wouldn't work.  However, if there IS a way for you to write one universal "configuration" XML file that we COULD edit to pick the addons we want, that would make installing the mod a lot quicker and easier.

As for my request, would it be possible for you to include a graphical version where the tank icons and buttons are the same as in the original 8.X tech tree?

There are actually 6 XMLs that can be edited to change the resolution of the techtree. The other stuff (buttons, layouts, etc.) requires much more editing with SWFs.

I do not have the experience to make a global XML configuration file that affects all other XMLs and SWFs. I would probably need help from other modders.

I was also thinking of a portable windows installer that lets you choose from different options with ease but this installer is far from being finished at the moment. But if I have time for it, would you like to have an installer for this mod?

When you speak about 8.X graphics, what exactly do you mean? The mod features two graphical versions at the moment, one with custom graphics made by me and one with slightly changed 8.X graphics. Or do you mean that I should revert the buttons (XP/credits) from the bottom right corner of the tank icons under the tank icons?

  • #11

An installer sounds awesome, you would just check off the options you want and it would insert the corresponding XMLs?

Sorry for the confusion.  By "original" I meant the way the icons and credit/xp buttons looked after the 8.0 update.  So it would look and operate the same way as without the mod, but the tree itself would be vertical.

  • #7

Does it come to 8.3 ?

  • #8

Yes but it is still experimental. If the mod is out of the experimental phase again, I will upload it here.

Until that, you can download it from the WoT-Forum:

    Does this work on 8.2?

  • #6

Look at the main description, it says "Supports: Update 8.2". Wink

  • #2

can you make it so that it would be more centered on the creen now it is just to much to the left.

  • #3

I am planning to release more versions for different resolutions in order to center the techtree when 8.2 is out. These include the following resolutions (width in pixel): 1024, 1152, 1280, 1360, 1400, 1600, 1776, 1920, 2048.

any chance of packaging this for use with the curse client?

  • #4

Yup, I will do so when WoT 8.2 (and RVT 1.5) is out.

EDIT: I'm sorry, I tried to get the mod to work with the Curse mod API but it always sets the mod up wrong. You will have to use the normal download method.
