About GroupRadar [no longer maintained]

I quit playing Wildstar and can no loger maintain GroupRadar.
If you are interested to continue upon my work feel free to do so. :-)

======================================================

Wildstar has a lot of good features for soloplay that tend to "tear" a group appart (e.g challenges that start only for one person of the group).

GroupRadar helps "getting the band back together" by showing arrows pointing to your groupmembers.

Anyone found a replacement for this addon? Or is someone else going to start maintaining it?

  • #60

If know one else does I may try to pick it up. As far as replacements there is one other that is simular but IMO was not as great. I had trouble seeing the arrows.

Quite literally many people would not be able to play this game without this addon now.   Group content in this game is near impossible without these little arrors keeping track of people.   Thank you for all the work that you've done.    I was just hoping for an update:   Months ago you said you were working on making it track party members even in Battlegrounds or Arenas (ie, track only people that you've queued with)   Also, there was mention of some sort of functionality for raid groups?    Obviously I don't want 40 little arrows flying around but maybe an option to point at the raid leader, tank group, healer group, focus group, ect?   It would be incredibly helpful on fights were repositioning to certain parts of the room are designated and required, so that some of your "less-than-ready" raiders don't ruin it for everyone.   :P

Please, let me know if these things are still on your to-do list and if you might have an ETA or need any help with anything.    Thank you again for all that you've done.    Best wishes.   <3

Hi aclg67, thanks for the nice words. I had really much todo at work for the last months. But this project is live now (since tuesday) and I have time do all the important things  ^^. Like doing the attunement quest and improving GroupRadar :-)

I will start with the implementation of new features this weekend but I have no ETA when I will have a stable release. Please be patient with me a little more ;-)

Any chance for addon to display player info by the arrows? Like a cheap and dirty HP/shield %?

The update is up (as soon as curse has synced it) and contains the following changes:

    • Update for api 9.
    • Removed chatcommand-shortcut "/gr" because of conflicts with the german wildstar-client.
      • Players who used "/gr" in a macro have to use "/groupradar" instead
    • Added the following chat commands to allow players to remove the text (name and distance) of the overhead display.
      • /groupradar showohtxt
      • /groupradar hideohtxt
      • /groupradar toggleohtxt

The new chatcommands for the overhead display are a quick fix for those of you who want to disable the texts of the overhead feature. I will implement a better solution as soon as my time permits it (which will then also be included in the options menu).

Important: Those of you who used "/gr" in a macro have to change that to "/groupradar".

No update on if you're pushing a release for API 9? All other addons I have updated the day it changed...

In short, the addon isn't working at all right now.

Sorry for that. I was on vacation until yesterday and had no time to test if the addon works with the new api. I will push an update soon. :-)

So wierd that something this freaking simple and great isn't in the game already.

Often when I join a PUG, eveyone is scattered everyfreakingwhere across the map, and this really helps sort out the chaos a bit, especially keeping track of where everyone is in dungeons.

I like how it shows the player name under their direction indicator when they're at a distance, but not when it displays it like a nameplate once they're up close. I didn't notice the addon did such nameplate-like behavior until recently. This nameplate behavior when players are up close is visually disruptive against my preferred nameplates addon (Biji). Here is an example where Group Radar nameplate shows up in white behind Bijiplates.

My hope is that there can be a setting to disable the group radar name display once the arrow snaps to the player for being in close range.

If you dont like the "overhead" feature set the "overhead distance" to zero and the arrows only circle around you. I will change the name-display in the next realease.

Unfortunately I don't have much time to work on the addon at the moment because of my job. I will implement most of the features requested here as soon as I can.

    Thanks!

I'd love an option to display only range but not the player name ;-)
